Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
This policy covers three things: this website, production work for clients, and the Auto Camera Switcher plugin. They collect very different amounts of data, so they are described separately.
The data controller is Yinon Sofer, trading as sofer.studio, a sole trader in Cyprus. Contact: hello@sofer.studio. Full business details are on the business details page.
1. This website
This website sets no cookies, has no accounts, forms or trackers, and does not follow you anywhere. There is no consent banner because nothing here needs consent.
Three things do happen, and they are worth stating plainly:
- Hosting. The site is served by a hosting provider which, like every web server, records requests in its logs, including IP addresses. These are the host’s operational logs, kept briefly for security and reliability. We do not read them to identify visitors and do not build profiles from them.
- Photographs. Some images load from Unsplash’s content delivery network, so your browser makes a request to Unsplash and their servers see your IP address. No cookie is set by us in doing so.
- The checkout button. The Auto Camera Switcher page loads a script from FastSpring, who handle the sale, so your browser connects to them and their servers see your IP address. If you go on to buy, the payment form is FastSpring’s, shown over this page, and their privacy policy governs what you enter there. When you press the button, the order also notes which of our pages you were on and, if another website sent you here, that website’s name (never the full address), so we can tell which places bring customers. Once you open the checkout, FastSpring’s script keeps your checkout session in your browser’s storage so a reload does not lose it. Nothing is stored before you press the button.
Fonts are served from this domain, not from Google, so no request is made to Google when you load a page here.
2. If you email us
Email arrives at a mailbox hosted by Zoho in the European Union, and is forwarded to a Google account. Both providers process it on our behalf. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for the relationship and any legal or tax obligation, then delete it.
Please do not send sensitive personal information by email. It is not an appropriate channel for it, and nothing on this site asks for any.
3. Production work
Filming produces recordings of identifiable people, which is personal data and often the client’s own. Footage is held on encrypted local storage, shared with the client through a private link, and is not used for anything other than the agreed project. It is not used in marketing, showreels or on this website unless the client and everyone recorded has agreed in writing.
Raw footage is kept for an agreed handover period and then deleted. Where sofer.studio is processing footage on a client’s instructions rather than deciding what happens to it, the client is the controller and a written data processing agreement is available on request.
4. The Auto Camera Switcher plugin
Your footage never leaves your computer
The plugin analyses audio entirely on your own machine. Your footage, your audio and your Premiere project are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. There is no cloud processing step.
What is sent
To check that your subscription is active, the plugin sends your license key when you press Check, and again each time its panel opens. The request carries the key and nothing else about you.
Keys that begin with ACS- go to our own license server at license.sofer.studio. For each key it keeps only the state of the subscription (active, cancelled and so on), a few dates, and whether it was a test order. It learns these from FastSpring, the payment provider that sells those keys, which tells it when a subscription starts, renews, fails or ends. It keeps no name and no email address. Like any request to this website, a check appears in the hosting logs described in section 1. Keys bought through Gumroad are checked with Gumroad directly.
The answer is cached on your own machine, so the plugin keeps working offline. The plugin does not ask for your email address. Versions before 0.5.1 had an email box; whatever was typed there stayed on your machine and was never sent.
Each time its panel opens, the plugin also asks this website whether a newer version exists. That request carries only the plugin’s version number and whether your computer runs macOS or Windows, and it appears in the same hosting logs. If you installed the plugin from this website and choose to install an update, the file downloads from GitHub, whose servers see your IP address in the same way. Copies installed through Adobe Exchange are updated through the Creative Cloud app instead.
Payment
Subscription payments are handled by FastSpring, who act as merchant of record: they sell the subscription to you and handle the payment, tax and invoice. Card details are entered on their systems and are never seen by, or passed to, us. Their own privacy policy governs what they hold.
FastSpring shares with us the details you give at checkout, such as your name, email address and country, and what you bought. We use them to support you, to manage your subscription, and to tell you about changes that affect your license. We do not send you marketing emails unless you agreed to receive them. We keep these details while you are a customer, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Licenses bought earlier through Gumroad work the same way, with Gumroad in FastSpring’s place.
5. Legal basis
- Contract. License checks, production work and correspondence about a project.
- Legal obligation. Invoices and records kept for tax purposes.
- Legitimate interests. Keeping servers secure and answering enquiries. These interests are balanced against your rights, and no profiling or advertising is done on this basis.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, and ask for it in a portable form. Exercising any of these is free and takes one email to hello@sofer.studio. We reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus, or to the supervisory authority where you live.
7. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and anyone holding a plugin license is told by email.
